Kracht Den Haag: reducing youth care waiting lists by creating and maintaining the right focus

As of January 2024, Kracht provides youth and family support in the municipality of The Hague. Kracht is a collaborative partnership between four organizations, united by the goal of ensuring that children in The Hague grow up safely, healthy, and with opportunities. Always nearby, Kracht works together with families to find the best solutions and, when necessary, provide the right support; with attention to the broader living environment.

The challenge

Kracht is a new collaboration that, within a short timeframe, needs to establish its organization and services -covering basic care, prevention, and specialized support- to ensure continuity for the residents of The Hague. We need to be accessible and ready to provide the right help as quickly as possible. Beyond immediate setup, Kracht’s long-term mission involves systemic transformation, optimizing care and reducing waiting lists. However, as an action-oriented organization, we tend to initiate many things simultaneously.

"Help us prevent overload (and the resulting stagnation) by setting clear priorities, so we can effectively fulfill our mission."

JigsEye has translated our ambition and strategy into clear priorities that we can act on. Ownership of strategic portfolio management truly lies with our colleagues. And they are, to our surprise, are even more enthusiastic about it than we are!

The result

Together, we first mapped out the strategic direction Kracht needs to take, aligned with its mandate and mission. A clear distinction was made between the foundational elements that must be established quickly and the longer-term ambitions. Kracht then defined clear priorities, deciding what to focus on now, what to postpone, and what to eliminate. This approach ensures a deliberate balance between short-term needs and long-term transformation. To prevent overload, we implemented an efficient way of working that allows Kracht to monitor progress, manage workload, and maintain focus. Responsibilities are now clearly defined across the organization, ensuring full transparency on what is being worked on, why, and when deliverables are expected. Additionally, the reporting framework provides clear insights for both partners and stakeholders. With support from JigsEye Insight, real-time visibility into the entire project portfolio is now possible, showing how each initiative contributes to both core service delivery and strategic transformation goals.
